Frequently Asked Questions
Q. What are your prices?
A. $50 per night for overnight boarding, which includes daycare. Daycare alone is $30.
Q. Are there any discounts?
A. Sure for stays longer than 6 nights, multiple dogs from the same household and dogs with documentation showing they were adopted from licensed rescues or shelters, plus dogs belonging to people in various types of need. Call us to explain the circumstances. Discounts can be complicated to work out as your doggy might qualify for multiple.
Q. How much for cuddles, medication administration, special food preparation, playtime, sending us photos or videos etc?
A. Its all included. LOL at charging for photos! Your dog is a valued guest, not a hostage!
Q. How much do you charge for your pet taxi service?
A. $1.25 per mile for the total miles.
Q. I’d like to book a grooming appointment.
A. Contact us and we’ll have the groomer call to discuss your requirements.
Q. What are your opening hours?
A. We are open for pick ups and drop offs 24 hours a day 7 days a week.
Q. But I want to pick up my doggy at 11pm!?
A. That’s fine. Later if you need to. We really are here 24/7.
Q. I need to board my doggy or want doggy day care, what do I do next?
A. Its best if you come meet us with your doggy. Make sure their vaccinations are up to date (see below) then text or phone (470) 242-1790 for a chat about your fur baby.
We can arrange a time and date for a meet & greet. Your doggy will get to meet other doggies and find out if they are happy here.
A meet & greet typically takes an hour, but if your doggy is shy or nervous, maybe plan on staying a little longer.
It would be appreciated if you could do the meet & greet Monday – Thursday and avoid school or public holidays as these are the busier days, but any day is possible.
If you are passing through town or have a last minute emergency and cannot do the meet and greet, that is OK.
Text us a photo of your vaccinations (or give us your vet’s name and we can get them).
Although this is a cage free doggy hotel, if your doggy cannot get along with the others, they’ll be kept on their own
Q. What vaccinations do you need? A. Rabies, Bordatella/kennel cough, DPP/DHPP. Parainfluenza and Leptospirosis are also a good idea, but not required.
You can text us a photo of your dogs vaccinations or give us your vet details and we’ll get them ourselves.
Q. My dog likes to lunge at other dogs and sink his teeth into them, can I make an appointment?
A. It is likely your doggy isn’t suitable for cage free boarding.
Q. My dog gets upset if someone tries to take her food.
A. You’d get upset if someone tried to take your food too! Its normal and its why they are fed on their own here.
Q. Do you accept puppies?
A. Yes. If their vaccinations are complete. Puppies can be annoying to other doggies because they have not learned Dog Language yet. We take great care to only let them be around other puppies, playful doggies or doggies who can handle puppies without getting stressed.
Q. Do you accept intact / unspayed dogs? Yes, but do let us know if a female doggy is likely to come into heat during a stay so she can be in a playgroup without intact males. Intact males might be given a doggy diaper too, as they tend to pee on the furniture. If you want your doggy to get the most out of their stay, we recommend having them neutered, but we understand that, particularly with rare breeds, you might wish to leave them intact.
Q. I have a nervous doggy who spent their entire stay at the previous SIX sitters trembling in a corner or I have a big shy doggy who always ends up in the Big Dog Group and is terrified!
A. We have a regular guest like that. He’s fine here and even has doggy friends now. If you want to speak to his Mom we can put you in touch.
There is an art to making nervous doggies feel at home. You let them explore in peace, ignore them till they approach you. Once they feel ok with that you let them see another dog. One of the quiet ones who isn’t interested in other doggies much. Eventually you let them be together, and gradually introduce them to older, polite doggies who won’t get up in their face at all. A few days of that and they are usually fine to mix with anyone, but building up a dog’s confidence is a gradual process.
If we need to divide doggies up that day, shy or nervous doggies will be with other shy or easy-going doggies. Size might play a part, but temperament plays a bigger part. With the bouncy alpha doggies we do group them more by size.
Q. What do I need to bring with my doggy for their stay?
A. Food and meds. Only bring bowls or beds if you think your doggy will get homesick or refuse to eat out of anything but their own bowl.
For a first stay you might want to include an unwashed shirt or towel out of your laundry, so your doggy can smell your scent and feel that you are close by.
Don’t bring anything you would get upset at losing. We’re still trying to find one client’s shirt!
Q. Are dogs fed together?
A. No. They are fed alone unless you have a bonded pair who will only eat if they are together.
If there is a dog who only gets fed once a day they are still given a few kibble at other feeding times otherwise they would lose too much status in the dog hierarchy.
Dogs pay great attention to feeding order and whether or not a particular dog gets food!
Q. What are your day care hours?
A. Arrival is any time, preferably after 7am, but its flexible here. Pickup is, broadly speaking before midnight, but there are no hard and fast rules.
Q. How much for a day of day care then an overnight stay then another day of day care?
A. That counts as just one overnight. Technically we should probably charge for another day of day care, but deciding when a late overnight pickup ends and day care begins is impossible without some arbitrary deadline you are bound to be only five minutes over, so, its just one overnight.
Q. Where do the doggies sleep?
A. There are some who like to hang out in the front all night and some who prefer the sofa in reception, but its largely up to the dog. Most prefer to sleep in a room with a human.
On your visit here you can see where they sleep.
Q. I’m LGQTBQ+ or special needs.
A. We are LGTBQ+ friendly.
We can also accommodate wheelchair users. There’s a ramp to get to the door.
Neurodivergent people are also welcome. As doggy boarding hotels go, it is calm and quiet here, after everyone has gotten used to a new friend arriving – which takes about 15 minutes.
Q. I would like to visit I’m heading over right now!
A. It might be best if you give us a call first. The doggies here use the entire space and that includes reception. They’ll need to be settled in their playgroups elswhere.
Q. What’s your yard like?
A. It’s about 20×40′ with a wooden six foot fence, and it is mulched so it is comfortable for little doggy paws. The doggies seem to like it. You can see squirrels. You are welcome to take a look.
Q. My dog has been known to growl at doggies in the dog park, can they stay?
A. Depends on the reason. It’s the ones that get growled AT that are usually the problem.
A dog growls when their polite requests to be left alone are ignored. When two dogs meet, before they do the butt-sniffing they go nose to nose for a split second. The more polite dog will turn their face away.
If the other dog is polite they will do the same. Butt-sniffing commences and if that goes well a playful challenge might be issued and the dogs will start following each other around and playing.
However, if, after the split second nose to nose, the second dog doesn’t turn their face away, that is too dominant, very bad manners.
Puppies are often guilty of this. That’s when you might get growled at. A doggy who growls at an impolite doggy is fine.
Dogs who CAUSE growling are assessed more carefully and put with more confident dogs or other puppies and watched closely.
Q. Can you give special diets?
A. Sure. We have doggies who need chicken cooked, or cheese sprinkled on their dinner, wet food mixed with dry etc. If you can pack down things that need refrigerating to be as small as possible that would be appreciated. You can put kibble in individual meal bags or bring the entire container, as you wish.
Do let us know if your dog has any food allergies. Mention it every time you drop your doggy off.
Guests have been known to extort the last bites of our sandwiches etc. so we need to know about it.
Q. Do you need a deposit to secure a booking?
A. No. Just use contact us on (470) 242-1790 to arrange a meet & greet then we take it from there.
Q. My trip got cancelled, is there a cancellation fee?
A. No. Just let us know. Its fine.”
